Been a while...
Sep. 25th, 2012 03:17 pmLots of stuff has happened since my last post. Moved again, though I'm still in Charlotte, and I'm finally settling in going back to school. Finally. Sometimes I wish my life was more interesting though. Got into Mass Effect and Dragon Age and it pretty much ate my like. Currently playing Dragon Age Awakenings, though knowing what happens to Anders makes it kinda weird.
I've been off the internet for a while since I moved and didn't get internet until now. I moved to Charlotte, NC, which is such a beautiful city and I live with my aunt, who is cool and crazy and I love it here. Life is hectic here and internet access will probably be limited for a while. I've mostly been reading in my spare time, trying to get back to reading a novel a day. That's pretty much all for now.
The Batman, the Movie
Jan. 5th, 2012 02:39 pmOkay, I saw the movie, The Batman vs. Dracula, and it was pretty good and had fit the tone of the series. I think it took place before season three, since no Babara or Gordon and definitely no Dick. I liked the relationship drama between Vicki Vale and Bruce, even though I knew it wouldn't work out. The fight scenes were cool and the last scene of the movie was sad but very Batman-y, I guess. Watching this series was fun and I think I might do this again, this time with the 1966 live-action show. At least it'll keep my dreamwidth and livejournal accounts updated.
The Batman, Fifth part
Dec. 31st, 2011 04:43 pmSo I finished up the final season of The Batman, which is basically Justice League members team-up with Batman. I like this kind of thing, so it didn't bother me and I liked seeing Batman play off the League. My only gripe is that there was really no female superheroes other than Batgirl, in this entire series. I thought at least Wonder Woman would at least pop up, but nope. Maybe if it lasted longer more women would have popped up? Who knows? At any rate, I still really liked this series and I really liked this version of Batman, who was much more open and not a total asshole like some other versions of the character. In fact, he was more open than Superman, which was kind of weird. I'm going to watch the movie to see if it's as good as the series.
The Batman, part four
Dec. 24th, 2011 02:25 pmSo I just finished watching season four of The Batman and I loved it. Robin! Robin and Batgirl snark! Future episode! Alien invasions, badass Martian Manhunter and the Justice League. There were some duds, though, like the everywhere man one was stupid and his voice actor was pretty bad too. Also, not enough Selina. The making of Harley Quinn was cool but really sad (and written by Paul Dini, I'm so shocked). Welp, on to the last season and I hope it ends with a bang.
The Batman, part three
Dec. 22nd, 2011 01:03 pmFinished season three of the Batman. Really enjoying this series. I like the addition of Batgirl to the story and how she became Batgirl was cool and made sense. Her outfit is really cute as well. I'm surprised Robin didn't come first, though. That's how Batman stuff usually is, though I'm definitely not upset about it. My favorite episodes is of course the ones with Selina and I liked seeing how Batgirl and Catwoman played off each other. Also, there was a lot of subtext between Poison Ivy and Batgirl, especially in the beginning. The relationship between Batgirl and Batman was interesting and I like the way it progressed from annoying sidekick he didn't want to true partner-in-crime. Welp, off to the fourth season!
The Batman, part two
Dec. 21st, 2011 11:57 amSo, just finished up season two and I think it's getting better. My favorite episodes are still the ones with Selina in them and the least favorite is the one with Freeze. Also, Riddler's outfit did not get less stupid, although his personality is pretty cool. Not to mention Gordon finally arrived in the end of the season. I was kind of wondering where he was, considering what a huge impact he had on the Bat lore. Now I'm going to started season three, which I hope will be just as entertaining.
The Batman
Dec. 20th, 2011 12:06 pmSo I just watched the first season of The Batman and it wasn't that bad to me. It had a lot of cool moments and I loved the Catwoman/Batman episode. The last arc had an interesting twist I wasn't expecting and it was really sad. The only thing I didn't really like was how they changed Victor Freeze. His back story was more tragic and interesting when he was a scientist trying to find a cure for his wife than just an average bank robber. The designs on the other villains aren't too bad, though Catwoman kinda looks like Mousewoman; the ears are way too big. All in all, I liked the first season. Now on to the second!
So, I actually have been reading some stories and poems, which shocked me since I really can't keep to a schedule. Anyway, the short stories I read where from a collection of Japanese short stories and the ones I read so far are:
Sansho The Steward by Mori Ogai
The Third Night by Natsume Soseki
The Bonfire by Kunikida Doppo
Separate Ways by Higuchi Ichiyo
and The Peony Garden by Nagai Kafu.
The poems were by T.S. Eliot and Langston Hughes. Read the entirety of Prufrock, Gerontion, Burbank with a Baedecker: Bleistein with a Cigar, Sweeney Erect (which I think is about his penis, but I'm probably wrong) and A Cooking Egg.
Hughes poems were The Negro Speaks of Rivers, Aunt Sue's Stories, Negro and Danse Africaine.
I wonder how long I can keep this up?

Try something new
Nov. 17th, 2011 05:49 pmSo, it's been a while since I updated this. It's just so much easier to update tumblr, since I only reblog or post pictures, so I forget about this. Also, school makes it hard to do stuff often. Anyway, I want to try something new. I realize me reading full novels is pretty much impossible right now, I don't know why. My head is just not into reading long stories that aren't fannish, I guess. So I decided to start small and just read one short story and one poem a day for however long. I'll be posting updates on my Goodreads account and I'll try to remember to do it here.
Also, I can't wait until Thanksgiving. I need a break from Organic Chemistry.

Been a while
Sep. 15th, 2011 10:34 amWow, it's a minute. Anyway, I started back school recently, so I don't have as much free time. My classes are pretty interesting though. The hours are weird, though, and even though I picked the morning class, I hate getting up at 6 to get ready, leave at 7 for my half and hour drive( and to avoid the morning rush) and be at class at 8. This morning was especially bad, since my car started overheating waiting on traffic. People in Columbia cannot drive, so who the hell gave them their license? A cousin or brother or something? Maybe my next post will have something happier.
Fried computer
Jul. 21st, 2011 03:43 pmWelp, my computer is finished. It was kinda old and crappy anyway, but it still had my stuff. Good thing I backed up most of it, but still.... I'm now using my sister's computer. Man, I wish I was rich or had money to get a new one. :(. On good note, however, I'm seeing Captain America with my sister on Sunday. I can't wait!
New Layout! (And Manga Scans)
Jun. 22nd, 2011 08:59 pmSo, I have a new layout for my livejournal account. The header comes from the Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane comic book 15 cover. The covers on the whole series is pretty trippy, so I might change the header every once and a while.
Also, I've been posting scans of one of my favorite short manga stories, Birthday, by Sugimoto Ami, at Yaoi Daiy . It's really good and I'm a really big fan of her writing, though it can get kinda... weird, with dinosaur mpreg stuff in Animal X. You can find my recent post of Birthday here, with links to previous stuff.

Graduation!
May. 30th, 2011 11:48 amMy youngest sister graduated on Saturday. It was the quickest graduation I had ever been to and also the weirdest. Clapping and cheering wasn't allowed until the end of giving out the diplomas and anyone who did cheer was escorted out by cops. Who does that? Anyway, my sister is no longer a high schooler and is the last one to finish secondary schooling.
Also, we took some pictures.

Icon Post!
May. 15th, 2011 09:06 pmSo I decided to make a list of all the icons I made recently. It's not a lot and I'm still a beginner, but I think they came out okay. ( Read more... )
Been a while...
May. 12th, 2011 09:28 pmIt's been a while since I updated this thing. Ummm... nothing much really happen, me at least. My sister graduated from college and my baby sister is graduating from high school soon. I feel really old. The AC still doesn't work. I hope it gets fixed before it really gets hot. I can't take another SC summer with it broken. I'm also sad Inazuma 11 ended, but I'm looking forward to Inazuma Go. I just love fantasy soccer anime.
